1988 McLaren MP4/4 DLC now available as standalone F1 2017 purchase as patch drops

by Neil Watton (neil363)October 17, 2017

It was originally available to just those who purchased the Special Edition of F1 2017, but now, as the Special version rolls over to the Standard, the free DLC that appeared with it goes up for a standalone purchase.

Available to purchase and download right now is F1 2017. Now that may not come as a surprise to you as for the last month or so that has always been the case. The difference being however that the previous Special Edition now becomes the Standard Edition, whilst the free 1988 McLaren MP4/4 Classic Car DLC that was originally being gifted as part of the launch pack, will now come at a cost.

Admittedly, it’s not a massive cost – in fact it’s just £2.79 – but it’s a cost you could have done without by getting on the F1 hype train just a little earlier.

We’d hazard a guess that anyone fully ingrained in the F1 way of life, would have jumped in with both feet upon release, especially as the latest F1 game is so damn good, but should you have been a bit slow, then the wallet is now going to to a little bigger hit.

Alongside this DLC change, F1 2017 has also seen a patch drop. Available now for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, the patch brings in updated car liveries, a new photo mode to console and further TV style broadcast elements.

Details as follows:

You can now showcase the current running order as well as various other statistics, such as:

  • Gap to the race leader
  • Gap to the car ahead or behind
  • Positions lost or gained
  • Fastest lap times
  • Current tyre compound
  • In the pits
  • Number of pit stops

New Features Summary:

  • New Spectator UI has been added to game.
  • LAN Mode has been added to PlayStation4 and PC versions.
  • New Grid editor available in custom multiplayer modes.
  • Photo Mode is now available on PlayStation4 and Xbox One.
  • Sports Update – updated car and driver liveries.
  • Sports Update – updated car performance levels.

If you haven’t yet played F1 2017, then we highly advise you to get a read of our full review under your belt asap. Chances are that once you have, you’ll be found making your way to the Microsoft Store pretty swiftly.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360’s life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One. A massive racing fan, Forza 4 was the daddy of all Xbox titles but Forza Horizon 3 now trumps that. Online first person shooters are my hell….probably because my reactions are so poor, but give me a little Indie title and I’ll be in heaven.
