2K and Gearbox Software have today unveiled the first look at the competitive multiplayer action that will be present in Battleborn when it releases in 2016. They’ve even detailed upcoming betas!
From the creators of Borderlands, Battleborn is the next big new IP to hit Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Taking place in a distant future, Battleborn is a first-person-shooter featuring a group of heroes who have come together to form an unlikely alliance as they attempt to save the universe’s last star from destruction. With new heroes come new personalities, new weapons and massive new powers.
But that’s not all the new Battleborn news as an Open Beta has also been confirmed for 2016. Whilst PS4 players look to be grabbing it first, Xbox One and PC gamers will also be treated to a little beta treat with further details likely to be released soon.
The multiplayer side of Battleborn will bring together ten players online in 5v5 matches with the following modes in place…
- Capture: Teams of heroes face off in a fast-paced death match and must capture and hold objectives on the map to win.
- Meltdown: Teams of heroes must guide their minions as they march to their death at the center of the map. Points are scored for every minion who throws themselves into the incinerator, and the team with the most points wins.
- Incursion: Teams of heroes must defend their base from waves of AI-controlled minions while working together alongside their own minions to destroy their opponent’s base. Tutorial videos for all three modes can be found on the official Battleborn blog.
If you fancy getting involved in a small technical test for the game, you’ll need to register ahead of its start on Thursday 29th Oct when it kicks off on all formats.
