5 Reasons You Should Play Red Dead Redemption On Your Xbox One!

-

Following Rockstar’s announcement that the open world western game Red Dead Redemption would be making its way to Xbox’s Backwards Compatibility program, sales figures for the game have skyrocketed. Amazon alone has seen RDR receive a huge sales spike.

The game is currently on sale on the Xbox store as well, meaning you can pick up a digital copy for a little under £7. So, if you’ve not played Red Dead Redemption, or don’t know what it’s all about, here’s 5 reasons why you should play Red Dead Redemption on your Xbox One come Friday!

5. Its dead-eye mode is incredible

In Red Dead Redemption, you play as John Marston, a sharpshooting Westerner.

I’m not going to spoil any of the story (though trust me, it’s amazing) but as you progress, your dead-eye skills increase, allowing you to slow down time, select targets and rapidly dispatch of any enemies that dare stand in your way. It is innovative, easy to use, and the sort of thing we’ve come to expect from Rockstar.

4. You can hogtie people

This isn’t the most ethical or moral reason to play Red Dead Redemption, but it does signify something bigger!

Yes, you can hogtie people with your lasso. Yes, you can also carry these people to the train tracks and act out your role as an old western baddie. This provides endless entertainment in itself, however you’re free to do pretty much whatever you want to do – within reason for a game set in the Wild West…

3. Like any popular game nowadays, there is a zombies spinoff

The major DLC addon for Red Dead Redemption is called Undead Nightmare, where you face hordes of the undead that will drag you from the back of your horse and feast on your flesh. Mmm, lovely. Seriously though, Undead Nightmare is up there on my list of all time best DLCs.

It takes the beautiful setting of Red Dead Redemption and adds a horror/sci-fi twist to it that will leave you wanting more.

2. There’s an online mode

Have you ever wanted to play GTA:Online in an old wild west setting? Of course you have. Red Dead Redemption scratches that itch.

Go on a dawn ‘til sunset ride with your friends, crossing the border into New Mexico. Sit down at a tavern and play some Liars’ Dice or poker. Siege a fortress with your comrades and claim it as your own. Get sniped off your mount from 300 yards away. Complete co-op missions. Ride a donkey. Go hunting. Complete challenges. Why are you still here? Go play it!

1. It’s stunning

Few games made for the Xbox 360 can boast the same kind of visuals that Red Dead Redemption has to offer.

As mentioned before, you can embark on a journey to New Mexico, riding from dawn until dusk, taking in the scenery as you go. The music accompanying your journey through Red Dead Redemption is equally as beautiful, and fans of the game will know that when you first enter New Mexico, the musical score is about as perfect and fitting as it possibly could be.

Red Dead Redemption is one of my all time favourite games, and offers so much. Its online component is the perfect time-killer, and its story – while it can be a little off the pace at times – is fantastic and well worth a play through.

You can play Red Dead Redemption on your Xbox One from the 8th July, 2016.

The first Xbox I owned was an Xbox crystal. From there, the Xbox 360, then the Xbox 360 Slim, and now I spend my days on the Xbox One. Massive fan of Destiny, and the Forza Horizon series! My most anticipated games are Forza Horizon 3 and Battlefield 1

Honestly looked pretty boring to me when I saw my friends playing it on 360.

I’m not going to lie, I never really got into it and can’t ever see me going back for more. Granted, it’s quite obviously a very good game, but it just wasn’t for me.

It’s not really New Mexico, it’s just Mexico. These are good reasons to play though!

And you may even have the time since AAA exclusives (other than QB) have not been seen on the xbox this year.

These are all reasons to play RDR but not reasons to play it on Xbox One. The last reason about visuals even references its Xbox 360 level of graphics. Why would it not reference something about upgraded visuals for XOne?

I mean it’s out on BC tommorow. It’s kind of obvious who this article is for imo.
