Ubisoft have never been one to sit on their laurels and are more than happy to deliver mammoth experience after mammoth experience. Today it is that team which are found to be pushing the Far Cry franchise to the next level, with the arrival of Far Cry New Dawn.
Running as a standalone spinoff in the Far Cry series, and working as a narrative successor to the brilliant Far Cry 5, Far Cry New Dawn sees us thrust back into Hope County, this time some 17 years after previous events, seeing it transformed into a vibrant post apocalyptic world.
And vibrant it most certainly is, with Ubisoft deciding to do away with the usual dark gloomy post apocalyptic world themes to deliver something a bit brighter, a bit more colourful, a bit more, well, mad. Like pink? Like a bit of neon? You’re going to love Far Cry New Dawn.
Hitting up this world and taking up arms alone or with a friend is the name of the game – much like every single Far Cry experience that has gone before it – just now you’ll have to lead the fight against the ruthless Highwaymen. Utilising the same map structure as Far Cry 5, allowing you to take in a variety of different aspects and paths, New Dawn will see you recruiting a host of new Guns and Fangs for Hire as you build up your homestead and engage in all out warfare against all oncomers.
Whilst not a fully new Far Cry experience, Ubisoft haven’t been afraid to stick to what they know best and by taking all the goodies from Far Cry 5 will have no doubt been able to create another stunning world that just needs to be taken in. Our full review is in the works and will be with you in the days ahead, but if you are down with what Far Cry has delivered previously – and let’s be honest, there are few out there who haven’t been amazed by the series – then you’ll most likely adore New Dawn.
To get involved then the usual digital stores are the best place to start with the Xbox Store sorting out all Xbox One gamers out there. There are numerous options on the table too, with Far Cry New Dawn coming in at £39.99. Alternatively, the Far Cry New Dawn Deluxe Edition includes the Deluxe Pack for £47.99, adding in The Hurk Legacy Pack, the Knight Pack , the Blast-off RAT 4 skin and the Retro Sci-Fi M133M skin.
Further still, there are extra currency packs available for anything between £3.99 and £39.99, whilst those who haven’t yet played Far Cry 5 will be able to get New Dawn and Far Cry 5 included in a couple of bundles – £84.99 and £95.99 will get you access to those.
You’ll also find Far Cry New Dawn available on PS4 and PC should those be your preferred formats.
