AWITHbrighterrounded

It’s been one of those weeks of news, opinions and reviews, where there are just too many articles that stand out as exciting or interesting. So, let’s just get down to it and go over our best pieces for Xbox One and Xbox 360 in the last seven days…

DiRT Rally gameplay trailer and new content confirmed

In a world dominated by racing games that often penalise gamers for going off-road and have lovely clean tracks to set our best lap times on, it’s sometimes good to get down and dirty. Step forward DiRT Rally.

Drive down country roads and snowy paths in this rally extravaganza that will hit the shelves in early April. There’s going to be a few new cars added that haven’t been seen in the Early Access version such as the Renault 5 Turbo and the Mini Classic Rallycross. And if you pre-order the Legend Edition, it’ll come with a full length documentary on the rally legend, Colin McRae.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens announced!

LEGO don’t miss a trick do they? Capitalising on the massive success of the latest Star Wars film, they are already well on the way developed an accompanying video game made of bricks.

Prepare to relive all the most memorable moments featuring Rey, Finn, BB-8, Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma, to name just a few. There’ll also be new story content which covers the time between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

We’re excited to see the trademark fun and laughter they inject into every franchise when it arrives in June, but mainly we want to pilot the Millennium Falcon!

Madden NFL 16 arrives in the EA Access Vault

Hell yeah! Football! Woohoo!

I imagine that went through the mind of many American football fans when EA decided to add Madden NFL 16 to the Vault. Obviously you need to have an EA Access subscription to benefit from this move, however as long as you do then this game will be completely free to play, in its in entirety. As if the EA Access scheme wasn’t value for money already, this must make even the most frugal of gamers slightly interested.

It’s arrived just in time for the Super Bowl too… get on board that hype train!

Rainbow Six: Siege gets free Operation Black Ice update

Far too often these days, the big dogs in the video game business are charging for any and all additional content for their AAA titles. That’s why it’s genuinely refreshing to see Ubisoft handing out a content update free of charge. The Operation Black Ice update will add two new characters from a Canadian special ops unit, plus a new map and some new weapon skins.

It turns out this is just the first free DLC of four planned major freebies, good eh? Keep an eye out for news on the second, as we’ll no doubt let you know as soon as it goes live.

5 of the most memorable video game heroes

Everybody has a favourite hero in the world of video games, but what about the top 5 of those whom are instantly recognisable or memorable?

Our Alec pondered over this and came up with his, which featured the likes of the great Halo protagonist, Master Chief, and Modern Warfare’s SAS badass, Captain Price. The beauty of opinions is that some may agree and there may be readers out there whom reckon their hero deserves a place in this list.

Don’t be afraid to comment and make sure your top 5 is heard!

That’s all for this week and we hope you’ll join us again in seven days for another edition of A Week in the Hub…
