A Winter’s Daydream drops new text-based story to Xbox One, PS4, PS Vita and Nintendo Switch

A winter's daydream release

Ready to kick back and take in a new story? A Winter’s Daydream promises to let you do just that, and right now it is found releasing on Xbox One, PS4, PS Vita and Nintendo Switch.

Priced up at just £4.99, A Winter’s Daydream comes about via the publishing team at Sometimes You. After the seeing the story develop by ebi-hime, A Winter’s Daydream provides the ultimate ‘sit back and read’ opportunity as it runs as through the life of a young boy, Yuu.

After returning back to his homeland, Yuu has discovered that his old frail grandmother has turned into a cute young girl, and from there on out it is down to you to discover just what, and why, things have happened, and whether or not Yuu can restore his elderly relative back to her usual form.

A Winter’s Daydream doesn’t really play out like many other videogames though and what has been created her by ebi-hime and Sometimes You is nothing more than a novel. In fact, your skills will rarely – if ever – be tested by what this game brings, as you are left to progress the action and take in the tale by pressing the A button as and when you see fit. And if you find that interaction a bit too much, sticking on autoplay and letting A Winter’s Daydream play out before you as you kick back and relax is more than doable.

Thankfully a cheap price point is in place and when you consider the low £4.99 asking price, may just about be able to warrant a purchase, particularly as the game gives up Gamerscore like it is going out of fashion, along with the 50000 words of text and the 3 hour story.

Features include:

  • Story by ebi-hime, author of Sweetest Monster, Blackberry Honey, and The Way We All Go
  • Around 50,000 words of text (approx 3-4 hours of reading)
  • Detailed background and character art
  • A custom OST
  • A kinetic story with no choices or branches
  • A very cute grandmother!!!

If you wish to know more then our full review of A Winter’s Daydream on Xbox One is now in place and ready for your perusal. Check it out and then hit up your favoured digital store to get a download in. You’ll find it available on Xbox One, PS4, PS Vita and Nintendo Switch.

Game Description:

A boy returns to his countryside home after spending half a year in the city, only to discover the unimaginable – his elderly grandmother has transformed into a cute young girl! Hijinks ensue. Nineteen-year-old Yuu can’t stand his younger sister, Otoko, and the feeling is mutual. It’s been almost a year since Yuu saw her last, having escaped his dreary home town to study in the bustling city, but with the advent of New Year’s he finds himself obliged to return to his family to celebrate. Unfortunately, Yuu’s absence has not softened his younger sister, and Otoko is just as sullen and surly as ever before. Finding the atmosphere at home unbearable, Yuu decides to escape once more – not to the city this time, but to his grandmother’s snowy, secluded village. The reunion between grandson and grandmother starts normally at first… until one moonlit night, when the pair witness a star streaking through the sky. The following morning, Yuu enters the kitchen, still half-asleep, to discover… “Who are you? What are you doing in my grandmother’s house?” …that his grandmother has transformed into a cute young girl! What is the reason behind his grandmother’s drastic change? Will Yuu be able to restore her to her original self? And why is she so adorable?!
