2018 was a big year for the tennis scene, with the gaming world seeing debuts for both AO Tennis and Tennis World Tour – with the former most definitely providing a much more rounded experience. Today though the teams at BIGBEN and Big Ant Studios are playing another ace, with the announcement, release date, and first details of AO Tennis 2.

Coming to Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC on January 9th 2020, AO Tennis 2 will arrive just in time for the first big Grand Slam event of the year, created in collaboration with the tournament organisers and launching ahead of the Australia Open.

Playing out as the official video game of the Australia Open, AO Tennis 2 will see the series return to console and PC with an all-new narrative driven career mode that will see tennis fans going from the outside courts to centre-stage glory in the all-new career mode. For the first time in AO Tennis, success for a young talented player will depend as much on external events as the great play found on the court, which provides deeper immersion into the world of professional tennis.

Further to that though and AO Tennis 2 will deliver Big Ant’s celebrated content editor, which was loved by the community in AO Tennis. Once again you’ll be able to customise every element of your game, whilst everything created by those taking in the first game will also be available in this sequel. That means you’ll find over 20,000 players and hundreds of courts that can be enjoyed by fans of the sport.

As you would expect, AO Tennis 2 will also deliver on the roster front, with some of the brightest talents across both the ATP and WTA, including Rafael Nadal, Ash Barty, Angélique Kerber and many others. All venues that will be used in the 2020 Australian Open will also be available in the game, so fans can enjoy maximum authenticity as they play along with the Australian summer of tennis.

With Big Ant listening to the community and having implemented many other improvements and new features requested by players, you can be sure that they’ll be fully on the ball with the development and launch of AO Tennis 2 on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. More details about content and the career mode will be shared soon, but in the meantime, hit up the latest trailer below.
