We’ve waited with extreme anticipation for what seems like years now: Sea of Thieves is finally here in all it’s swashbuckling glory!

If you aren’t too clued up on what Microsoft’s latest adventure title is all about, then in short it is a pirate romp through a massive open world to be had with friends. You’ll be taking down skellies, catching animals and, most importantly, going on the hunt for masses of treasure in a bid to become a pirate legend!

You could go it alone as a solo player, if you dare, but Sea of Thieves is most definitely to be played with friends, up to four of them in one ship in fact, as you will be needing to work together in order to manoeuvre your ship across the high seas and figure out the clues leading to digging up the booty.

The main appeal to Sea of Thieves must be the fact that at any time, anywhere, your crew could encounter another going about their business – expect to have to fight off invaders wanting to steal your loot, or you can team up with other players if you can find a way to communicate your friendliness.

The main aim of this pirate adventure is to become a ‘Pirate Legend’ and thus unlock a secret area unknown to other players. To do this, you must undertake a variety of quests from NPCs across the world, building up your reputation as a notorious pirate crew. It is then when you will unlock the endgame area, receiving more quests to participate in.

All this, as well as an extensively customizable ship and pirate, and you can be sure Sea of Thieves will be one of the biggest games to come out of Xbox this year. Check it out on the Microsoft Store from today for £49.99. As an Xbox One title that utilises Xbox Play Anywhere, you can also hit it up on Win10 too. If you are a member of Xbox Games Pass, however, you will be treated to Sea of Thieves for free, for as long as you are subscribed to the service! Nice!

Keep an eye out for our full review – chances are though you’ll want to become a proper pirate with Sea of Thieves!
