Assassin’s Creed Rogue may be regularly known as the little brother of the arguably disappointing Assassin’s Creed Unity, but the opportunity to explore the Assassin’s Creed franchise from the eyes of an infamous Templar is one that should never go amiss – especially when it is free to download.
Rogue is in no way a bad game, in fact it is quite the opposite for a title that originally hit the Xbox 360 crowds, but just know that what you will be getting into won’t be like the huge RPGs of the more recent entries into the famous series. But alas, Assassin’s Creed is Assassin’s Creed, and the tale of a former Scottish assassin gone rogue, now on the hunt for his former compatriotes, is one of constant excitement and tension. Playing as Shay Patrick Cormac in amongst the chilly conditions of the Arctic in North America, expect to be engaging in some fluid hand-to-hand and ranged combat against a number of challenging enemies, exploring a vast and diverse open world, and perhaps – most excitingly – the fan-favourite naval combat is abundant within Rogue. I just don’t know how comfortable I would feel playing in the shoes of a dirty Templar!
Assassin’s Creed Rogue is undoubtedly the big-hitter of February’s Xbox Games With Gold lineup, even if it is the original Xbox 360 version as opposed to the recently released Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered. If you fancy picking it up then it is now available for free for all Xbox Live Gold members and will work via Backwards Compatibility on Xbox One.
Make sure you get your download in before February 15th 2019 however, as after this date the game will no longer be available free of charge and instead you’ll be requested to pay the usual £14.99.
