It’s being billed as the first official snooker game in a generation, but, just like buses, as one snooker game comes along, multiple others follow it. Breaking off and attempting to get a decent lead over their opponents though are the team at Ripstone, as they release Snooker 19 to Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

After teaming up with Lab42 and World Snooker, Ripstone have been on a bit of a charge to lead the way in the ball potting scene. Available to purchase and download right now is their attempt at delivering the best snooker experience ever, with the very first official snooker game seen for a generation.

Priced up at £29.99, Snooker 19 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC will see you being able to casually slip into the shoes of any of the top 128 players in the world, before getting hands on the baize and racking up the breaks like the best of them. This means should you wish to release your inner Ronnie O’Sullivan, embrace the love of Ding Junjui, or even get into the head of legends of the sport like the Whirlwind Jimmy White or Ken Doherty, you can.

Unreal Engine 4 helps and this means that visual likenesses of the players, iconic arenas from around the globe and overall visual look right down to the grain on the cues will be rendered impeccably. Throw in spotlight glare, polished balls and more, and you’ll quickly understand the immersive nature of this snooker experience.

A full career mode will let you take these stars to the highest levels snooker has ever seen, breaking records and taking down tournaments like in the real-world. Failing that you can ignore the big stars and spend time building a brand new journey as a player straight out of Q-School, attempting to hit the big time.

As you would expect from a snooker game, ball physics are key and Snooker 19 promises unprecedented realism. From the TV-style comms, true-to-life physics and an advanced AI system that allows for a decent test, this is a ball potting game with the lot.

Taking down and knocking out maximum breaks against the AI is just the start of it though and once you feel ready to take on the world, full online and offline multiplayer action awaits. With quick play match-making, global tournaments that intertwine with the World Snooker calendar, and fully customisation of snooker, 6-red and Shoot Out modes, there is a decent amount of ball potting opportunities promised with Snooker 19 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

We’ll have our full review up and coming at you in the days ahead, but should you wish to jump on the snooker bandwagon and can’t wait for the likes of VooFoo’s This is Pool and This is Snooker, or are still flummoxed as to why Snooker Nation Championship is STILL in Game Preview, then Snooker 19 is the game for you.

Get yourself over to the Xbox Store, or those which help out PS4 and PC players, and grab a download today.

Let us know if you pick it up and want a match too. You’ll find us frequenting the online snooker world in the weeks ahead.
