The type of Dragon Ball game many fans have been dreaming is about to come to fruition, as Bandai Namco announce 2D fighter Dragon Ball FighterZ!
Developers Arc System Works – best known for their work on the BlazBlue and Guilty Gear franchises – are taking one of the most popular anime franchises ever, Dragon Ball, and combining it with classic 2D fighting game dynamics. Despite the action being delivered in classic 2D fighting style, the 3D character models will all look and feel just like they’ve come straight out of the Dragon Ball world; with Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Cell, Frieza and Majin Buu currently revealed to be a part of the roster.
The 3vs3 battle setup looks to encourage players to choose a team of three characters which complement each other, whilst also tasking them to hone their skills with more than one fighter and playstyle. During these fights there’ll be exciting aerial combos, destructible stages, and even famous scenes from the Dragon Ball anime recreated in 60FPS and 1080p resolution – with higher resolution supported for Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.
Dragon Ball FighterZ releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC early in 2018, but eager gamers should take note that a closed beta will be held on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 before the end of Summer 2017!
