Classic point and click Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love ventures onto Xbox One

The great Leader of Matryoshka wants to extend an invite to you to visit his glorious country and show you how wonderful the place is. Will you be accepting it, thus letting yourself in for a satirical point-and-click adventure, by getting involved with Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love on Xbox One?

Irony Curtain is the latest game from Artifex Mundi, but it’s not like the Hidden Object Puzzle Adventures that they’re known for; instead it’s a classic point-and-click experience that aims to cut out the less desirable parts of the genre and focus more on ensuring a high level of fun. The story is centred on a bumbling journalist, Evan Kovolsky, and his ‘VIP’ trip to the communist land of Matryoshka – he loves the ideology. However, the more he sees behind the ‘Iron Curtain’, the more he realises it’s maybe not great for regular citizens. To make matters worse, there’s a lot of behind the scenes antics going on and Evan’s about to get mixed up in a situation that only someone like James Bond would find himself in!

Don’t worry though, because while Irony Curtain may have a gloomy subject at its core, the dialogue is sure to lighten the mood with a heavy dose of humour present throughout and plenty of pop culture references and Easter eggs to take note of. As it’s a point-and-click, you can expect to find a shed load of ingenious inventory-based puzzles to solve as well as a fair few mini-games to get your head around too.

Should Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love sound like the type of game that you need in your Xbox One library, simply locate it on the Xbox Store and pay the required fee of £16.74 to own it. In order to help make up your mind, we’d highly recommend a read of our full review and a recent Q&A with the developers!

Game Description:

Take a look behind Irony Curtain in this satirical point-and-click inspired by the best works of LucasArts and Daedalic Entertainment! Experience the totalitarian Matryoshka through the eyes of Evan – a low-ranking, goofy journalist involuntarily pulled right into the middle of an espionage stand-off between two powers. Jump into the wacky spy adventure, uncover secrets of the bizarre communist country (and the powerful capitalist empire!), witness a story full of unpredictable twists and turns, and discover the true agenda of the mysterious Supreme Leader! What business might the loving father of the Matryoshkan nation have with a lowly, capitalistic pen-pusher? Why suddenly lift the Irony Curtain and welcome a stranger into Matryoshka? And why is there an alligator in the middle of the bathroom?!
