We all know how the Xbox Game Preview system works by now, but should you wish to be found taking a punt on a whole new adventure, then it has to be said that PixARK promises that chance. It’s got pandas too!
Available right now from the Microsoft Store for Xbox One, PixARK is the latest title to play the dinosaur card, with ideas heavily inspired by ARK: Survival Evolved. Whilst any Game Preview title comes with the ‘Work in Progress’ strap line, and you’ll need to be aware that this is a game that will change dramatically over time, and may never actually release – although that looks highly unlikely – the combination of dinosaurs, magical creatures, PANDAS, and a huge open world all held together by a Minecraft style cubed system, should surely appeal to many.
Throw in procedurally generated maps and quests that see an infinite number of objectives to hit, the chance to team up with friends both locally and online to create a tribe, a fortress or more and the opportunity to go bare-back dragon or T-Rex riding, and you’ll quickly begin to understand the draw.
A free trial is in place and you can see your download obtained from the Microsoft Store right now. If you like what you find, or are just wowed by the Xbox One X Enhancements promised, then a full purchase will set you back £20.99. That seems a decent enough price to pay for something that could potentially promise so much.
