The great thing about the Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access schemes are that not only can gamers get hands on with games ahead of full launch, but the development teams behind the experience can tweak things to their heart’s desire, amending features and working with the community in order to ensure that come full release, the game is the very best it can be. The latest to make the most of this route is the team at Xaviant, as they release Don’t Die, Minerva! on to Xbox One and PC.

Don’t Die, Minerva! is available to purchase and download on Xbox One and PC right this minute, in both Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access. Of course, this may mean that the game may never be completed, and it should be seen as a work in progress title, but if you’re prepared to take the risk and wish to help the developers work Minerva into a wonder, then a £16.74 asking price is all that needs to be stumped up. Alternatively, you may just stumble upon a 1-hour demo on Xbox One too.

And if you do decide that is an opportunity you can’t pass up, then you’ll find a game that focuses massively on a haunted mansion; one that is packed with evil spirits as you help ensure that the young Minerva battles her way though.

With a flashlight to hand, and the power of stuffed animals able to be drawn upon, Minerva will find herself battling all manner of nasties, from ghosts and ghouls, to spooks and other creepy foes.

“We put a tremendous amount of care and effort into building this game, and the launch version reflects all of the team’s hard work,” said Xaviant’s Director of Operations, Josh Van Veld.

Don’t Die, Minerva! works as a roguelite affair, with good old permadeath at the fore of the experience. Throw in some challenging combat, a procedurally generated mansion, and a stat system that is so deep you’ll be able to work with endless weapon and gear builds, this is one very intriguing experience.

And if you take our hands-on preview of Don’t Die, Minerva! on Xbox One to hand, you’ll fast discover a title that promises a whole ton – with the time spent in Preview only able to enhance it more.

Game Description:

This game is a work in progress. It may or may not change over time or release as a final product. Purchase only if you are comfortable with the current state of the unfinished game. On a dark and stormy night, 11-year-old Minerva discovers a haunted house deep in the woods and before she knows it, she is in for the fight of her life! Don’t Die, Minerva! is a rogue-lite action RPG set in a haunted house. Armed with a flashlight and a backpack full of friendly stuffed animals who are brought to life by the house’s magic, Minerva must explore the mansion and defeat its ghostly inhabitants. Along the way, Minerva meets helpful characters who can aid her on her quest. Death is nearly inevitable, but with each run you will gain valuable essence that can unlock new abilities and better loot. With multiple levels of difficulty ranging from an easy stroll in a moonlit park to a punishing challenge only to be faced by the bravest of souls, Don’t Die, Minerva! offers crisp controls, exhilarating action, spectacular visuals, and a deep stat-driven loot system. Dungeons, loot, and enemies are all generated randomly, meaning no two runs are the same.
