Don’t stay up all night gaming… Rad Rodgers the ’90s inspired platformer is out on Xbox One & PS4

-

We’ve all been there: pulling an all-nighter on our favourite console seemed like a great idea at the time. But 40 games of FIFA or a load of Destiny raids later and we are left absolutely shattered. Xbox off. Straight into bed. But at least our Xbox’s don’t go sentient and transport us into our own video game!

Spare a thought for Rad, a young boy who wants to do nothing more than play video games, but soon finds himself sucked into his own game by his now sentient console, Dusty. But now at least he can take centre stage in a colourful and humorous platformer, and we can tag along for the fun.

Dusty may seem pretty unreliable given that he sucked someone into an alternate universe, but in fact it is him who gives Rad a load of, well ‘rad’ weapons for him to use. Such weapons include the unlimited Bolt Blaster and the Phoenix Cannon which shoots out a fiery bird who incinerates any enemy it passes by. Dusty’s uses don’t end there, however, as he is integral to fixing the game world Rad finds himself in, going into the space-time breaking region known as the Pixelverse to do rid of the glitches in the game world in order for the dynamic duo to progress through their journey.

With leaderboards to strive to top, 20+ hats to collect, Pogo Vertigo vertical levels, added Pixelverse Puzzles and a load of enemies and minibosses throughout the game, you can be sure that you will be playing Rad Rodgers for a substantial amount of time if you want to get through all the content! As an added bonus, anyone with the PC version of the game which released before today will have their game updated with all these additions free of charge!

Alternatively when you aren’t jumping around with Rad and Dusty, you can be jamming to the MIDI-inspired soundtrack or seeking out the easter eggs included within the game, hidden away in hard to find areas.

If you fancy hanging out with Rad and Dusty in a neat and colourful platformer then all you need to do is check it out on the Microsoft Store – it is available on Xbox One from today for £15.99, and also on PS4.

Who knows? We could be seeing people pulling all nighters with Rad Rodgers very soon. Just remember to keep an eye on your console!

Game Description:

Rad is a rambunctious but spirited young boy who maybe plays too many video games. After dozing off at the tail end of a long night of gaming, Rad awakens to find his dusty old console has turned itself back on. Suddenly a vortex emerges and he’s sucked into his TV, where he finds himself the star in his very own video game adventure. The game brings back the 90’s-era platformer with a game inspired by classics like Commander Keen, Conker, Ruff’n’Tumble & Jazz Jackrabbit. Features Weapons: Dusty arms Rad with seven radical weapons. Sounds & Music: Andrew Hulshult has created an amazing and authentic soundtrack for the game complete with MIDI-inspired music… And synthesizers! The Pixelverse: While Rad and Dusty are a great team, only Dusty can enter the electrified Pixelverse — a dangerous spacetime-breaking region that exists beyond the game world. Classic Easter Eggs: The game features hard-to-find collectibles in sometimes even harder-to-find classic secret rooms.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
