Fancy yourself as a bit of a thief? Plundering gold from an ancient and mysterious Arabian city? City of Brass is finally here to quash your wants and desires and explicitly remind you that theft is wrong by killing you over and over again.
City of Brass is a first-person roguelite from Uppercut Games, which includes senior developers of Bioshock. Players have uncovered the hidden City of Brass and want to discover all the treasure it holds inside. With a whip in one hand and a scimitar in another, you must navigate through the city level by level, against increasingly difficult hordes of skeletons and other such nasties.
Featuring Xbox One X capabilities, HDR and 4K UHD resolution, this Arabian Nights setting is set to look absolutely glorious, but don’t stick around staring for too long. City of Brass also has a timer to make sure you complete the level in time before perishing.
If you haven’t got the message by now, City of Brass will be a punishingly difficult game, but help is at hand. Blessings are available that can help turn the tide in your favour by reducing the number of hidden traps the games throw at you, or increasing your health, amongst other options. Conversely, there are also Burdens to unlock that make the game even more challenging.
It does all this thanks to its’ procedurally-generated levels, meaning no two playthroughs are the same. Add to this a variety of different locations within the city itself including the Palace and Catacombs, and there is certainly a lot of replayability for you.
