etherborn review xbox one 2

It’s been in development for over 3 years, having taken home plenty of awards in the process. Now though it’s time for Etherborn to become a reality, as Altered Matter launch their gravity shifting puzzler to the Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC masses.

Available to purchase and download right now, Etherborn promises to send you on a leap into the unknown as you play out proceedings as a mute being that has been dropped into a mysterious new world. From there on out you’ll be drawn through the maze-like structures ahead by a voice which calls you forward, narrating an atmospheric tale which will have you considering life as we know it.

Priced up at £14.24, Etherborn is a puzzler like no other, dealing with gravitational pulls and the opportunity for you to walk, run and jump on any of the planes and platforms that are available. Basically put, if you can see something in Etherborn, you can probably walk on it – even if you will have to hunt down orbs and hit switches in order for that to become reality.

By making your way through the 5 stages in place, and up and along the Endless Tree hub which brings the whole tale together, you’ll fast become intrigued by what Etherborn is going to deliver next in the few short hours you’ll have with it. Once that tale is taken in and you’ve concluded what Altered Matter are attempting to deliver, then a Game+ mode sees the same puzzles twisted with orb placements amended and hidden.

Our full review of Etherborn on Xbox One is now live and will be able to provide all the details you should need in order to dictate a purchase. If you are sold on this atmospheric puzzler then the Xbox Store will sort your Xbox One download in a cinch. Those on PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC would do well to visit their own digital marketplaces.

Game Description:

Etherborn is an elegant leap in the gravity-puzzle genre; an environmental puzzle platformer built on exploring and understanding gravity-shifting structures. You are a voiceless being that has just been born into a world where a bodiless voice awaits your arrival. As your first thoughts emerge, you realise your journey has just begun. You must reach this ethereal voice to fully understand your own existence. In this world, the laws of physics behave in a way that will bend your imagination. You experience gravity perpendicular to the surface you are standing on, allowing for creative exploration possibilities in environments carefully crafted as navigation-based puzzles. An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
