Well, if your hand is in the air then I have good news for you: Extinction is out today on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, giving gamers the chance to save the world by eliminating towering enemies known as Raven’ii. To do this, you will assume control of Avil, the last member of an order formed to fight against the Raven’ii. He just so happens to possess some pretty cool magic powers which he can use in his ongoing battle.
And you’ll be using them too. The Rune Strike will be your most powerful attack when fighting Raven’ii, and this can only be used when you have built up enough Rune Charge, which is in turn gained when attacking smaller enemies or Raven’ii themselves. Most of the combat you will be engaging in will be timing and combo based, but when the Rune Strike is available you will be able to utilise a devastating attack that decapitates your giant foe.
The addition of an extensive skill tree will also ensure your hard work is made worthwhile, as completing story missions will gift you SP, which can be spent on upgrading health, attacks and the like.
From what we’ve played (and keep in mind this was a PC build), Extinction is a fun game with astounding realistic graphics. If you fancy checking it out, then head on down to the Microsoft Store where it can be purchased for £54.99. However if you really feel like splashing the cash, then the Deluxe Edition will bring some bonus content your way for an extra tenner, and whilst that includes the Days of Dolorum Season Pass, that in itself can be purchased separately for £12.79.
