The Pillars of the Earth trilogy adapts classic adventure mechanics to tell the tale of the fictional English town of Kingsbridge in the 12th century. Taking on the roles of Jack, Aliena and Philip, your decision making will have a direct impact on the events of the book, as the story focuses on the town’s efforts to build a cathedral to secure wealth and security. But a civil war has raged throughout England and Normandy for almost two decades and this ensures you’ll find a story full of intrigue and conspiracy surrounding the big events of the era, as the people of England find the levers of power up for grabs.
“Taking Ken Follett’s celebrated novel and turning it into an interactive adventure has been as exciting as it was challenging,” says Matt Kempke, co-author and game designer of The Pillars of the Earth. “We wanted to do justice to a story that immerses itself fully in English history, combining fact with fiction to create a potent tale that found a massive audience when it was released.
