Forsaken Remastered sees an old classic get a modern makeover

-

Continuing on their journey to bring back the most classic of old titles as shiny remastered versions, Nightdive Studios have put together Forsaken Remastered – giving Xbox One gamers the chance to relive the sci-fi dystopia of the original 1998 Forsaken.

Forsaken is set at a terrible time when the atmosphere of Earth has gone to pieces, leaving looters, mutants and the like to battle it out for the energy sources remaining. The way you, as one of these looters, will go about this is by acquiring an arsenal of devastating weapons and manoeuvring around a number of obstacles and enemies that are out to take you down. It’s all rather good fun with a classic ‘90s FPS style many gamers came to love. Now though we get the added benefit of some updated visuals for the modern era (like Xbox One X enhancements), and levels from the N64 and PC releases, to ensure things are just that little bit better still.

When you tire of blasting computer controlled enemies halfway across space, the multiplayer offering of Forsaken Remastered should be your next port of call. Traditional modes Team Deathmatch, the free-for all Death Match and Capture the Flag are all present, as well as more obscure options such as Bounty Hunt for you to discover. The opportunity for up to 16 online players is there, but chances are most of the time you will be playing alongside friends with the split-screen side of things.

Forsaken Remastered is now available on Xbox One for £15.99 (10% launch discount available if you are quick) from the Xbox Store, and can also be played on PC. If you wish to know more, keep an eye out for our review.

Game Description:

An experiment gone wrong has ripped away the Earth’s atmosphere. Bathed in the scorching radiation of the sun, the planet has been condemned. Abandoned by all intelligent beings, what remains is a treasure trove of loot in the form of energy sources and weapons that has attracted the scum of the galaxy, all seeking a piece of the action. Oblivious to the dangers, the looters must navigate past mutant creatures and automated defense systems and outfight each other. The fun begins when you mount your gravity-defying cycle and become one of the rogues. Flying through a network of underground tunnels you begin your quest to overcome the obstacles and unlock the puzzles. You’ll need to fight your way past blasting turrets, flying ships, sucking turbine fans, and piercing spikes to prove that you are the best! The classic 3D First Person Shooter returns! First released in 1998 the classic underground flying cycle game is being brought back to life by Nightdive Studios, the team that brought us Turok and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. Forsaken Remastered features: • Dozens of obliterating weapons including heat-seeking missiles, flame-spewing energy rifles, bouncing mines and much more. • 3D engine that allows for 360 degrees of motion. • Dozens of levels from the N64 and PC versions, as well as new custom levels. • Five single player difficulty settings: Easy, Normal, Hard, Total Mayhem and HARDCORE. • Six different types of multiplayer matches: Free for All (Death Match), Team Game, Capture the Flag, Flag Chase, Bounty Hunt and Team Bounty Hunt. • Split-screen mode! In this dystopian vision of a world gone mad, the future is Forsaken!

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
