Tactics and team-play have become one with the rise of the online scene, and with titles like Overwatch, Overcooked 2 and the upcoming Strange Brigade placing a huge emphasis on players working together to succeed, it’s no surprise that a similar game has come about. That game is Hyper Universe – and it is here to grip us with its exhilarating combat, fast-paced 4v4 action and free-to-play goodies.
In a unique 2D setting, you will assume the role of a Hyper, each with their own strengths to take advantage of, and then go into a match of tactics as your team wages off against another. Taking down enemies and defensive units is the name of the game, all in order to overrun and destroy the enemy base. Of course nobody can go in as a one-man army, so it is key to have a mix of melee, ranged and support heroes to sustain your attack all the way to victory.
At present there are 39 characters to play as, getting to grips and dominating the opposition with – and there is potential for the roster to be expanded on in the future. As with many free-to-play titles these characters will be available on a rotation, unless you purchase the paid-for version of the game.
Currently with this free-to-play MOBA there are two maps to play – Delta Station and Dragon Refuge – as well as the opportunity to have a Custom Match with friends and watch other matches with the Spectate Mode. Daily and weekly challenges can be completed for additional skins, and as part of the launch event from today until September 10th players can unlock extra skins.
Hyper Universe is available now on Xbox One as a free-to-play download. Should you like what you find and wish to go all-in, then the Hyper Universe: Ultimate Hypers Pack is obtainable for £15.99. The package will give you some Xbox-exclusive skins and unique equipment for certain heroes, as well as access to all current and future heroes. Furthermore, the game can be picked up on PC.
