Coming from developer Emilie Coyo and the publishing team at Blowfish Studios – they previously behind Whipseey and the Lost Atlas – Infinite: Beyond the Mind promises futuristic retro action platforming at some point in Q2 2020, when we’ll see the game launch on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Infinite: Beyond the Mind will see us thrust into a world that has been utterly devastated by war, as two women who share a bond over their special powers fall under the watchful eye of the tyrannical Beljantaur Kingdom. The problem is, when one is abducted by Queen Evangelyn and her heavily armed forces, the other must spring into action and rescue her partner from captivity by any means necessary.

We’ll be found dropping into the lives of either Tanya or Olga, as we work our way through 16 side-scrolling stages rife with enemy troops, platforming challenges, and intense boss fights. The opportunity to perform acrobatic double jumps and dodges to elude oncoming fire will be present, as we tackle environmental hazards and attempt to close the distance between enemies in order to cut them down in close combat.

Thankfully there will be the power of mounted gun emplacements to harness, letting us decimate Beljantaur battalions, before calling on allies to summon screen-clearing bombardments, and eventually blast through waves of hostile gunships in genre-bending high-speed aerial shoot-‘em-up sequences.

The fight will get even more intense as we call in the other half of the duo during Tanya or Olga’s fight for freedom, turning the tide on their foes. With the press of a button, a second player can seamlessly join the fray, taking command of a flying robot companion kitted out with long-range weaponry. As you would expect to high, the chance to rack up some tasty high scores by defeating adversaries, avoiding damage, and completing stages quickly, will fast come to the fore.

“With Infinite – Beyond the Mind, I set out to make the game I always wanted to play when I was a child,” said developer Emilie Coyo. “Being able to realize that goal has been a dream come true and can’t wait to share it with PC and console players all over the world later this year.”

We’ll be seeing Infinite: Beyond the Mind coming to Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC in Q2 of 2020, however those attending PAX South 2020 in San Antonio, Texas will find the game at Booth #12034. After that, between Feb. 27 – March 1, it’ll be showing at PAX East 2020 in Boston, Mass too. Booth #29044 is the one you’ll want to hunt down.

In the meantime, the trailer below will ensure the hype builds just a little bit more.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
