Tactical military shooters have been making their way to console for some time now. Anyone who has taken much notice of EA’s FPS series Battlefield, will surely tell you that it takes a reasonable amount of tactics and planning to pull off a flawless victory in the near-MMO shooter franchise. If you were to ask a PC player to point you in the direction of a tactical military shooter however, you’d probably find Insurgency and Arma amongst the top recommendations. So that makes today’s announcement very exciting.

Insurgency: Sandstorm coming to Xbox One is rather exciting.

Whilst little was known about what we should expect from the highly anticipated sequel, this week’s E3 trailer has unveiled much more about the tactical shooter, showing us what we should expect when it arrives on PC and console.

Insurgency: Sandstorm is the sequel to multi-million selling Insurgency, by developers New World Interactive. Insurgency: Sandstorm has been designed to retain all the features that made Insurgency a stand-out title, whilst building upon the current foundations and enhancing things as much as possible to ensure a fully immersive experience for gamers across Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Throughout the game, players can expect to get embroiled in a tense and deep personal story, whilst cut off from support across the war-torn landscape. The story will be playable in co-op as a squad of up to four-players (two-players split screen) or alone, and will pit you into a group of like-minded soldiers whose objectives have aligned with the converging ways of war.

Players will find teamwork and objective play is rewarded over personal success and will be able to utilise the many different new features, such as lightweight driveable vehicles, deep character customization, a vast number of unlockable cosmetics and fire support requests to aid in combat, as well as ranked matchmaking for those online showdows, all of which will be implemented with the vastly improved visuals and technology that is brought to the table by Unreal Engine 4.

As for a release date, nothing is yet confirmed, but stay tuned and we will be sure to keep you updated with the latest details as and when they become available.
