The world of bomb defusal is a dangerous, albeit very real, one. To really understand what bomb defusers go through on a daily basis you must go about what they do in meticulous detail. And meticulous detail is what you need in Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes: make just a few tiny mistakes and the bomb explodes right in your face!
After initially arriving in VR form, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes releases today on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, bringing about an exclusively multiplayer offering where a set of players, however usually a solo defuser, are the only people allowed to see the bomb on your TV screen, whilst others must instruct them on how to disarm each module using either a printed or digital manual. It all makes for an extremely unique, complex, exhilarating and frustrating affair, where cool-heads, nerves and relationships will be tested all in an attempt to disarm each of the randomly generated bombs.
Each bomb will have a variety of small mini-puzzles -Modules – that must all be completed in a given amount of time, whilst finishing with a limited number of strikes. These puzzles range from different coloured buttons, a Simon Says-esque game, a password to crack, and later on, ‘needy modules’ which will need to be completed regularly on your path to success. Elements on the bomb such as a serial code, port and batteries will also come into play in deciding which action to take, and distractions like an alarm and blackouts will add to the stress. As both the defuser and Experts with the manual see different things, order, communication and memory is most definitely key – a few notes here and there will also come in handy.
Aside from the batch of ever-hardening levels that will most likely be your first port of call, Free Play also gives you the opportunity to solve your own bomb. The number of modules, time to solve, the inclusion of needy modules and the choice of hardcore mode will be available to change so you can have a more calming task or a real challenge!
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is likely to be one of the most addictive and unique titles to come out on current consoles. It can now be picked up to play on Xbox One as an Xbox One X Enhanced title, PS4 and Nintendo Switch from today, as well as PC and the previously mentioned VR. For Xbox One, you can purchase the game for £12.49, but act quickly and you could pick up a neat discount.
What are you waiting for? The timer is ticking… but should you wish to know more, our full review should be checked out.
In Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, one player is trapped in a room with a ticking time bomb they must defuse. The other players are the “Experts” who must give the instructions to defuse the bomb by deciphering the information found in the Bomb Defusal Manual. But there’s a catch: the Experts can’t see the bomb, so everyone will need to talk it out – fast! Rounds are fast-paced, tense, occasionally silly, and almost always loud. Puzzle solving and communication skills – and maybe a few friendships – will be put to the test as players race to defuse bombs while communicating quickly, clearly, and effectively. Features • Challenging puzzles – Test the limits of your communication skills… and friendships? • A different bomb every time – Procedurally generated puzzles keep the action fresh. • Local co-op party game – Bomb defusing is a team endeavor. Going solo is not an option! • Only one copy of the game needed – If you can talk to your friends, you can play! Requires additional web-enabled device to view or print the Bomb Defusal Manual. Manual is freely available at www.bombmanual.com. NOTE: Game is only available in English.
