Loot Gaming – March 2017 Unboxed

-

Here we are, in the vast wilderness of Northern England as we gaze at the local exotic wildlife – squirrels, ducks and stray cats. But what’s this I see laying under a tree? Someone’s left the latest Loot Gaming crate unattended! As the old proverb goes, ‘finders keepers’, so I shall have a gander at the contents of the Wild themed crate for March 2017, to see if the monthly subscription fee is worth paying for. Maybe it can even help me to survive the journey home. You’ll have to find your own supplies though.

Anyway, it’s thirsty work wandering about out here and in hindsight I should’ve brought fluids to keep me going, which I could’ve stored in the first item on the agenda – a Pitfall! canteen. Pitfall! Is a true classic from the Atari era, where players had to navigate Pitfall Harry through a series of hazards in a maze-like jungle to succeed. The design is brilliantly colourful, capturing the original game’s artwork perfectly. You can only put cold liquids in the metal canteen, but that doesn’t stop you from filling it up with something strong to keep you warm on an adventure *wink wink*.

Speaking of keeping warm, everyone knows that most heat is lost through your head and so a reversible beanie to wear would certainly solve that problem. This rather soft and comfortable hat can be used to display your World of Warcraft (it’s some MMORPG apparently) political faction allegiance – are you an Alliance or a Horde person? Each of their symbols is emblazoned on opposite sides of the reversible beanie, standing out in yellow (Alliance) and red (Horde) for all to see on the dark grey colour scheme of the headwear.

Next up is a tee, to tie in with the recent release of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind on Nintendo Switch, featuring Link as he appears in the first HD game of the Legend of Zelda franchise. For anyone fussy about matching outfits, the lighter grey tee goes pretty well with the beanie – although, the massive print of Link on the front is a bit much. But hey, it’s always a bit mucky out and about in the wilderness, so it’s always handy to have a back up.

And finally, we have the ideal companion to ward off any potential threats in the wild, the incredibly badass D-Dog… in a plush toy. Yes, the dog from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is looking all adorable in plush form and is absolutely guaranteed to melt the hearts of any onrushing attackers. D-Dog may be considerably smaller – able to fit in the average human hand – but it only makes Venom Snake’s hound ten times cuter and very cool. It’s even got the little eye patch!

I best pack this all away now, I need to make my way home using the Loot Pin bearing a rather appropriate compass design. Even though Zelda does nothing for me – and I wasn’t even born when Pitfall! was making waves on the Atari – the usefulness and cuteness within the Wild crate has impressed me. Join me for a trip to the future when the Future Tech crate arrives, which is set to feature items from Overwatch, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Prey and Tron.

Have you already signed up to a Loot Gaming subscription, and if so, were you happy with everything included in Wild? If you still haven’t taken the plunge, what will entice you to finally get involved in the subscription service? Let us know in the comments, or on social media!

Help me, I’m lost.

Been a bit of a loot box lurker for a few months now but the thing that puts me off is not knowing what I’ll be getting… I know that’s half the point but if I ended up with a Sonic T-Shirt and a pair of Kirby’s Dreamland socks I know I’d be pretty pi**ed off that I hadn’t just invested the cash in a game instead. Some of the stuff they’ve had in the past looks genuinely cool though and I’ve thought to myself – I wish I had that… The Mass Effect Andromeda crate might have been the perfect option for me given I love that game but it’s sold out now lol…

Try the Loot Vault for some of the past crates and exclusives. It sells out pretty quick on there, but you may get lucky. Aye, on the odd ocassion I’ve been disappointed with a lack of exclusives, but overall it’s good as long as you’re a fan of multiple franchises.
