Miles and Kilo bring tough old-school platforming to Xbox One

It was 6 months ago when we first stumbled upon Miles and Kilo, with the development team at Four Horses taking up residence at EGX 2018, urging gamers to give it’s old-school platforming vibes a little shot. Now though it’s time for the full release, as Miles and Kilo rock up on to Xbox One.

Priced up at a mere £7.19, Miles and Kilo sees you taking on the roles of a daring duo who have found themselves attempting to escape a haunted island, by hunting down a gang of scoundrels in order to get back the pieces of their plane. Originally created for iOS and Steam, the original game has been given a bit of an overhaul by Four Horses, with them taking the source code and lovingly converting it to the land of console.

But whilst the story behind Miles and Kilo is a delightful one, it isn’t in anyway meant to be the focus of the action and thankfully this is where the gameplay comes in, with Four Horses deciding to go down to the tough platforming route to see the game flourish. 36 levels of action lay ahead, pushing you to go from start to finish without stopping in order to embrace the life of a speedrunner in the process.

With both Miles and Kilo coming with their own unique moves and abilities – Miles can slide, punch, jump and toss fruit, whilst Kilo is a dab hand at the odd somersault and dash – it’ll be up to you to decide which character is best for all occasions, as you try to find it in yourself to get up to speed with the whole mechanical structure.

It’s not just about a lengthy story mode that is included though and Miles and Kilo on Xbox One also comes with a special Time Attack Mode which sees you competing with others to place on a global leaderboard – only the strongest platforming heroes will be able to set the fastest time, with the least deaths.

If all this sounds like your cup of tea then Miles and Kilo can be grabbed right now for £7.19 from the Xbox Store. We reckon you should give it a little shout, particularly if you feel you can hold your own in the speedrunning game.

Game Description:

Miles and Kilo have been attacked by a mischievous spectre! With their plane in pieces and a gang of thieving scoundrels running off with the important parts, the unfortunate duo’s only hope of escape is to embark on a thrilling chase across a haunted island. Miles & Kilo is a super tough, fast-paced action platformer. Each of the game’s 36 levels can be cleared without stopping, making it a perfect choice for fans of speedrunning! Both Miles and Kilo have their own diverse sets of moves and abilities. Miles can wall-jump, slide, punch, and toss fruit at pesky critters whereas Kilo can somersault through breakable walls and dash through the air to pounce on nearby baddies. A special Time Attack mode is unlocked after beating Story Mode. Here you can compete with your fellow gamers via the Xbox Live Leaderboards — can you finish the game with the fastest possible time and the fewest deaths?
