Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom Gamescom trailer and details released

Monster Boy 1

A legendary game series is on the brink of a return as Monster Boy prepares for an Xbox One, PS4 and PC release.

A dream come true for the development team at Game Atelier and their publishers FDG Entertainment, Monster Boy is a colourful side-scrolling action adventure created in cooperation with Ryuichi Nishizawa, the creator of the Wonder Boy Monster World series…and it’ll be arriving in Q1 2017 on our favourite consoles.

Being created for no reason other than to bring back the enjoyment of classic games that shine by simplicity (although we reckon they’ll probably like to make some money too!), Monster Boy will bring pure, exciting gameplay, upbeat music and smooth graphics. You’ll be tasked with overcoming huge bosses, finding hidden passages, discovering powerful equipment and using all your wits and skills to remove a powerful curse.

Monster Boy has special powers and can transform into five different creatures, each with their own skills and abilities. You’ll need to take advantage of all these in order to open new paths and advance in an epic story.

It is a love letter to gaming from the 80’s and 90’s with its standout features being…

  • Based on the legendary Wonder Boy* in Monster World* series (*Trademark of SEGA Corporation Japan)
  • Created in collaboration with series creator Ryuichi Nishizawa (former Westone Bit Entertainment)
  • Colourful High Definition 2D Graphics with smooth animations
  • Explore a big adventure world with many interesting locations
  • Transform into various creatures and make use of their unique powers

Keep an eye out for it at Gamescom. We will of course keep you fully up-to-date as and when even more details drop.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
