After delivering a lovely experience in 88 Heroes, UK development team Bitmap Bureau have been busy with a new title. Today it has been confirmed that with the help of Rising Star Games, Ninja Shodown will be coming to all major consoles and PC.
Due for release around Fall 2017, I guess we can therefore expect to see the multiplayer slash ’em up arrive on Xbox One, PS4, PC and, most probably, Switch. Once these consoles are completely confirmed, we’ll let you know, but in our eyes those are the ‘major’ options and it would be a huge surprise to not see Ninja Shodown appear on them.
But what is this Ninja Shodown that we speak of? Well, it’s basically a battle to the death. It’ll be every ninja for themselves as they battle it out for the Jade Katana. You’ll be able to fight alone, and you’ll be able to team up with, or take on, friends via some intense multiplayer arena-based combat.
It all takes place in the year 199X as the world teeters on the brink of total destruction. The mystical Jade Katana is stolen. Its power is so lethal that in the wrong hands, humanity will surely fall. And so, the Viper Clan, sworn guardians of the Jade Katana, prepare to embark on their most perilous mission yet: retrieve the sword at all costs! Use katanas, shurikens, bombs, machine guns, shotguns, bazookas and more as you battle your way through a variety of locations to become the ultimate ninja and fulfill the ancient vow of the Viper Clan.
Key features will include:
- Intense local multiplayer action for one to four players, either competitively or co-operatively… you choose!
- Six distinct game modes – Last Ninja, Battle, Coin, Crown, Arcade and Infinite – and five unique locations – Temple, Dojo, Downtown, Museum and Area 88 – each with their own gameplay features.
- Customize your ninja, then use a range of deadly ninja (and not-so-ninja) weapons to destroy anyone who gets in your way!
- Awesome stereo techno soundtrack by Matt Gray… feel the retro vibe!
We will of course keep you fully updated with the progress of Ninja Shodown, bringing you future news as and when we have it.
