Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle new mode

The Attack on Titan anime continues to be a worldwide phenomenon, so it’s only natural to see another entry arriving in the form of Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle and today we’ve got more details on the gameplay, a new mode, and new characters it’ll bring.

Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle looks to offer aspiring commanders the chance to create their own corps, and fight to recover the land outside of the walls via the fresh, action-packed Territory Recovery Mode. You’ll have the opportunity to customize your corps’ name and emblem, as well as assign a commander from any of the game’s playable characters – including the custom-made Scout you may have already created in Attack on Titan 2. The Territory Recovery Mode features two rounds, with the first being a ‘Base’ phase where players can freely roam around to socialise with allies, use materials to prepare and upgrade equipment, and just generally ready themselves for the battle ahead. After that phase is over, the ‘Outer Campaign’ phase begins and this sees Scouts venturing outside of the walls in a thrilling section to claim land back for humanity.

A decent range of new gear is set to be provided to Scouts for their battles against the titanic foes ahead. The standard ‘Slashing Gear’ returns, enabling the option to equip blades with the ODM to quickly slice body parts, whilst the powerful ‘Shooting Gear’ action ensures blades are replaced with guns. Shooting Gear provides the choice between One-Handed Attacks, allowing for easy targeting and evasion of Titan parts in exchange for faster gas consumption and lower damage attacks, or Two-Handed Attacks which deal massive damage while making it harder to evade incoming hits. Scouts are also granted a revolutionary weapon in the fight against the gigantic Titans – the Thunder Spear, which bears the greatest power in your arsenal and can completely wipe one out in a single blow.

KOEI TECMO America have also announced the identity of five new playable characters in Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle. There’s Scout Regiment member, Nifa; 104th Training Corps cadet, Floch; First Interior Squad Captain, Kenny Ackerman; First Interior Squad member, Traute; and a rather mysterious man, Zeke – who might actually know more about the mystery behind the walls than he lets on.

Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC on 5th, July 2019. Scouts eager to join the action are able to pre-order now to get their hands-on bonus content, with those who purchase Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle, either physically or digitally, on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 during the first month of launch receiving the following extras: the “Queen of Historia” costume for Christa, “Young Male Coat” for Kenny, “Plain Clothes (Underground City)” for Levi, “One-piece Dress” costume for Mikasa, and an early unlock of two playable characters, ‘Kenny’ and ‘Zeke’.

In the meantime, be sure to check out some of the new gameplay footage below…

Been gaming casually since the SNES as a youngster but found my true passion for games on the Playstation 1 (the forbidden word ooo). My addiction grew to its pinnacle with the purchase of an Xbox 360 & Xbox Live Service. A recovering GS hunter that will still play literally any game.
