Brace yourself – the true sequel to Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee is coming and very soon it’ll be time to get involved in a Soulstorm!

It’s been in the works for a while, but now finally the team at Oddworld Inhabitants Inc. are able to unveil more details and a first gameplay trailer for the hotly anticipated Oddworld: Soulstorm.

Running as the 2nd game in the Oddworld Pentalogy, and working as a true follow up to the absolutely stunning, hugely critically acclaimed, best selling Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, which in itself was a ground up remake of the iconic Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. With more than 15 million games sold since the launch on the original PlayStation, this is sure to be an announcement which many will be excited to see.

Oddworld: Soulstorm picks up from where New ‘n’ Tasty ended, after Abe has defeated Mollusk the Glukkon, his former boss and RuptureFarms’ meanest inhabitant, overthrown RuptureFarms and liberated his workmates.  Now though Abe finds himself – and 300 newly emancipated Mudokons – without food, water or a place to call home, stranded alone in the desert. It is here where they find solace in a strange new brew – a delicious drink that has insidious ramifications for their newfound freedom.

As you may expect, Oddworld: Soulstorm will continue to chew up the themes of environmentalism, capitalism, consumerism and addiction that critics and fans found so engaging in the release of Oddworld: New ’n’ Tasty, building on all that came before it to deliver another stunning tale.

It’ll be found launching on PC and consoles – we’ll just sit and hope that means Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch (or any new consoles that may be around by then), and we’ll be on hand to bring you the latest development news as and when it drops.

For now though, grab yourself a brew and kick back with the first gameplay trailer for Oddworld: Soulstorm.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
