Halo players had the opportunity to snag the coveted Recon armor permutation for use in multiplayer by completing a total of seven Vidmaster challenges split between Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST. Unlike the more recent entries in the series, Halo 3 demanded certain skills to unlock some of the more lavish helmets. Bungie intended these achievements to pose great challenges, as the Recon armor set should only be worn by the Bungie team and select community members.
Following the gameplay reveal, Halo fanatics took to Twitter to comment on some of the new mechanics, the multi-mission objective structure, and... the unamused brute. For those of you unaware, this brute has gone somewhat viral in the last 24 hours and not for anything commendable.
When the Halo MCC launched, it’s fair to say it wasn’t without its issues, particularly with the multiplayer. It was so bad in fact, that 343 Industries issued a public apology and offered several incentives to those affected, including the Halo 3: ODST campaign for free, arguably one of the best single-player campaigns in the entire franchise.
Until the disappointing Halo 5: Guardians, I would have had Halo 2 down as the weakest of the lot. Now this is not to say that it's a bad game, not by any stretch of the imagination, however it just cannot escape the shadow cast by its brothers that came both before and after it.
Halo was the game to play on Xbox. Always has been, until now. We could go into the issues with the franchise since Bungie have passed the mantle of responsibility onto 343’s shoulders, and we will briefly, but I want to focus on why I am excited for Halo: Infinite and the potential it has as a reboot for the franchise, despite my disappointment with Halo 5: Guardians’ campaign.
With the Infinite team at 343 Industries already stating features such as four-player splitscreen will be making a return to the Halo universe, many highly requested features and changes could be making their way to Master Chief’s newest intergalactic adventure. With that said, here are four features or improvements that are hopefully implemented with Halo: Infinite.
Love it or hate it, Halo is one of the most popular, longest lived franchises on Xbox. If you are in the “love it” category, I want you to do me a quick favor. Ask yourself this question - What are your three favorite Halo games? Take a second to think about it. Was Halo 3: ODST on the list? I honestly don't expect it to be on many, and personally, I consider that to be a shame. ODST is without a doubt one of the best games in the Halo series.
