The Pillars of the Earth Book 2 – Sowing the Wind Xbox One, PS4 and PC release date announced

-

Did you enjoy the first instalment of Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth on Xbox One, PS4 or PC? Well listen up, because the second book is incoming and today Daedalic Entertainment have dropped details and a release date.

Following up on the first book will be Book 2 – Sowing the Wind. The next chapter of Daedalic’s adaptation of the best selling series by Ken Follett, Sowing the Wind will arrive on Steam come December 13th 2017. That will then be followed by a GOG release at the end of December, before PS4 and Xbox One editions hit at the end of January 2018.

Bloodier and more brutal than before, those who purchased Book 1 – From the Ashes will automatically have access to Books 2 and 3 at no additional cost, with Book 3 – Eye on the Storm due at some point in May 2018.

Rejoin Jack and Aliena who are now grown up and matured as they fight to save Kingsbridge from the ruthless William Hamleigh. William does not take Aliena’s romantic rejection lightly and threatens not only her life but the lives of her family and friends. Despite the threat they continue their work on a spectacular cathedral to attract pilgrims and visitors for their thriving market, which promises prosperity for their small, medieval town. But as William Hamleigh becomes earl and joins forces with the merciless bishop Waleran he has only one goal: Kingsbridge must fall!

Pillars of the Earth features over 200 hand-painted backgrounds created with the help of an expert in Medieval history, which sees the artistic storybook quality furthered by its stunning orchestral soundtrack performed by the FILMharmonic Orchestra in Prague.

This second instalment accelerates and continues the dramatic, mature and emotional storyline that began with the first book. Many dynamics come to a head with violent conflicts and even death. The player will have unprecedented influence in this beloved story, even sometimes deciding who lives and who dies.

“With this chapter of the story, we sought to really raise the stakes for the characters we’ve met and grown attached to.” says Matt Kempke, author and game designer.

Kevin Mentz, also author and game designer, adds, “It’s a much faster paced, more action-packed experience. But we did our best to maintain focus on the poignant storytelling from Ken Follett’s original while adding more interactive moments.”

Features include:

  • 21 chapters depicting the famous thousand-page novel
  • Interactive storyline events that can be changed, influencing the fates of its characters
  • Key decision points with meaningful, emotionally-engaging story choices
  • Over 200 hand-painted backgrounds featuring faithful rendition of 12th century life
  • Three playable main protagonists, plus two extra playable characters
  • An orchestral soundtrack by the FILMharmonic Orchestra, Prague
