Gamescom is on the horizon, but whilst the world’s eyes will be firmly set on Germany over the course of the next week or so, in just a couple of months another show will be hitting the ground – the PLAY Expo Manchester.
Coming to EventCity in Manchester on October 14 and 15th 2017, PLAY Expo Manchester is returning for the sixth year, promising to deliver unrivalled entertainment with the biggest games, names and the largest collection of retro gaming opportunities in Europe.
Whilst it isn’t strictly Xbox related, the PLAY Expo is a great event for gamers to attend and following the 25000 visitors last year, 2017 is shaping up for an even greater time, becoming a haven for gamers, Cosplay enthusiasts, retro fans, game collectors and those looking for quality family entertainment.
Much of the excitement surrounds the 20th anniversary of Goldeneye and PLAY Expo Manchester is proud to announce an exclusive Nintendo 64 Goldeneye Panel, where members of the original development team will be appearing live on stage to discuss their experience working on the game, even taking on visitors via multi-player matches at the end of the talk!
PLAY Expo Manchester will also be playing host to the Play Expo Pinball Battle, the largest pinball showdown in the UK. Streamed live to millions worldwide, anyone is invited to enter the tournament and big prizes will be on offer for those with impeccable flipper skills! With one of the largest collections of pinball tables across Europe, this is one battle royal not to missed.
The main draw however must be in the console collections that will be at the show and nowhere does retro better. The event this year promises to bring the largest collection of retro entertainment found anywhere in the UK, with a planned 500 consoles ready to explore. There will also be the usual Cosplay options with the Cosplay Village holding two stages of activity, and the ‘People’s Choice’ area where you’ll get to vote on all manner of things.
“PLAY Expo Manchester is the flagship show in our year long series of events and we challenge ourselves every year to better the last. We’re confident that this years’ will be our best yet, offering a world class event for gamers of all tastes,” said Andy Brown, Director for Replay Events. “We can already see that this year’s event will be something very special, but there’s so much more that we’ve yet to announce! We have some superb surprises planned and look forward to sharing more details as we head in to September.”
