Pre-Order and Pre-Download The Surge now on Xbox One

-

The Dark Souls series may well have released its final outing, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find fans of the new-found Hardcore-RPG genre looking for the next best thing to sink their masochistic teeth into. Will that be The Surge?

The Surge may just be that next best thing and as of today March 15th, it is available to pre-order and pre-download early on Xbox One ahead of its May 16th release date.

The Surge is a sci-fi action RPG game designed very much like that of the previously mentioned Souls series. During the game players wake up after being knocked out by unexpected catastrophic events and find they are in control of a mechanical high-grade exoskeleton that will be used to conquer and wade through the brutal melee action found throughout the game. In a world now inhabited by robots gone haywire, insane augmented co-workers and rogue A.I., there isn’t much that doesn’t want you dead.

Aided by your new-found exoskeleton, best huge bosses and violent enemies in brutal fashion with full limb specific targeting and a new loot system that has players loot the body parts they dismember. As for the exoskeleton, this is a fully customisable piece of kit, with modular upgrades to collect and install which can change the abilities given to the player, as well as plenty of armour and weaponry that can be created by the use of sliced up enemy body parts which help to make for a fresh take on player levelling.

Whilst The Surge may be arriving as a completely new I.P. the thought of a fresh Souls-like experience is certainly one to excite many in the gaming community. With a price point of £49.99 for those looking to pre-order, The Surge could very well be the next big thing for Hardcore-RPG fans everywhere.

Those that do decide to take up any excitement with a pre-order from the Xbox Games Store will find their copy coming complete with the “CREO Special Employee Kit” DLC, granting you access to three extra bonuses including the unique exoskeleton: The CREO PS01 Limited Rig, the Mechanized Counterweight V.0.9 implant for a boost to all physical damage output via injectables and the Dowsing OS Proximity Sensor add-on implant to help find those hidden implants along your journey.

The Surge is due for release on May 16th 2017 on Xbox One, PS4 and Windows 10 PC. Are you excited for a futuristic Souls-like successor? Let us know in the comments below or via our usual social channels.

I like the look of it and no doubt will get it in time, just not at release. Too much to play already and not enough time to play it!
