Metro Exodus was certainly a hit when it released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in February 2019, but even the best can get better and with the arrival of the Ranger Update, Deep Silver and 4A Games are hoping to push things on once more.

Available right now for Metro Exodus on all platforms, the free Ranger Update hits Metro Exodus to bring a New Game + mode and much more, including new features, many improvements and fixes to bugs and issues.

So, as you may expect, the New Game + offers a whole new way to experience the game, granting access to all weapons and attachments unlocked through prior playthroughs of Metro Exodus. This mode also allows all players to adjust a range of variables to create your own personal and uniquely challenging experience. But what’s more is the fact that included in the New Game + mode is a Developer Commentary feature which gives the opportunity to find special tape players in which the development team at 4A Games discuss some of the design choices for the area.

What else does the Ranger Update bring? Well, 4A have further refined the control scheme with a new Controller Preset that improves sensitivity and dead zone, and there are also some platform specific new features and improvements included. For us Xbox One gamers, that means we can utilise Mouse and Keyboard support, whilst further improved RTX and DLSS support is present on PC, and Dual Shock Controller Light support hits PS4.

The Ranger Update also addresses a large number of player-reported issues as well as improving gameplay, balance and performance throughout.

The full update notes are available over at the official Metro page.

If you haven’t yet played Metro Exodus then make sure you give our full review of the game on Xbox One a little read, and then sort things out buy purchasing a copy of the game. You can thank us for the great experience you’ll take in later!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
