Ticket to Ride is nothing new, after all we’ve seen it rolling around the board game scene, and previously in virtual form on Xbox 360, PC and iOS. Today though it’s time for the German railway-themed experience to hit the heady heights of Xbox One, with the base game arriving via Xbox Game Pass and a slew of content packs dropping in for delivery alongside it.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Ticket to Ride will see the classic board game come alive in more ways than one, with you and your friends heading off to discover the secrets behind this strategy experience.

Priced up at £16.74, or available for free to those holding full Xbox Game Pass access, Ticket to Ride will see you travelling the world in order to connect to cities, utilise a variety of tactics, and attempt to block others from doing the same. Taking charge of specific routes, dropping line blocks where you see fit will see success made in Ticket to Ride, and anyone familiar with the board game or the virtual options available elsewhere will be right at home with what is on offer.

The base game of Ticket to Ride offers much, but alongside that those who find themselves enthralled in the action will also be able to enjoy a number of downloadable content packs. These are priced at various levels, from free to paid, with the following all in place…

  • Pennsylvania – £3.29
  • USA 1910 – £1.69
  • Switzerland – £3.29
  • Germany – £3.29
  • Europe – £3.29
  • France – £3.29
  • Legendary Asia – £3.29
  • India – £3.29
  • United Kingdom – £3.29
  • Nordic Countries – FREE

Each of the packs listed above will give opportunity for you to visit specific areas of the world, however it is the full Ticket to Ride – First Class Pack which is the most exciting, giving access to all 9 maps, and letting you play with all the new mechanics. Yes it’ll set you back £20.99, but when you’re playing the base game for free via Xbox Game Pass, that ain’t too bad at all.

Should you wish to find out more about Ticket to Ride on Xbox One then keep an eye out for our review – it’ll be with you at some point in the near future. But for now the Xbox Store awaits, and it is that which will give you access to everything Ticket to Ride offers. Hit it up, and let us know in the comments what you think of this launch.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
