Square Enix have already released Final Fantasy VII and IX in all their PlayStation One-era goodness in previous months. But today see’s the release of another of the most beloved entries in the franchise, just this one comes in a double pack with an HD Remaster to bring it in line with the standards we have come to expect from this generation. Yep, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is finally available on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Announced as coming to the consoles late last year, Final Fantasy X – and its’ direct sequel – X-2 tell the story of Tidus and Yuna. The first game in the duology focuses on Tidus who gets ejected from his homeworld of Zanarkand by a force known only as Sin. The second game centres around Yuna who is left searching for answers after the climax of the first game.
Ultimately, Final Fantasy X and X-2 are a love story. Just with all the other Final Fantasy tropes we’ve come to expect: grand summons, crazy outfits, turn-based battles and chocobos.
This Xbox release is different to those of Final Fantasy VII and IX as X/X-2 have been given the HD treatment including massively improved visuals for cutscenes, environments and character models. There is also a remastered soundtrack but for those returning to Spira, the original soundtrack can be swapped in at any time.
But to whet your appetite, there is a new trailer released that begins to show the bond between Tidus and Yuna.
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster are available to download together right now, priced at £44.99 over on the Xbox Store. You can also pick them up from the Nintendo eShop. Featuring over 100 hours of story content across the two games, there is more than enough here to keep you busy, long after the Final Fantasy XII HD Remaster releases in two weeks’ time.
