Roguelike action platforming indie hits Risk of Rain 1 + 2 launch on Xbox One

Back in 2013 the small indie team at Hopoo Games stumbled onto a winner, with the launch of Risk of Rain on Steam. That was then followed up by other format launches and then the release of Risk of Rain 2 in Steam Early Access earlier in 2019. Now though, it’s time for Xbox One gamers to get in on the action, with the arrival of both Risk of Rain 1 and Risk of Rain 2.

Available to purchase and download right this very minute, Risk of Rain and Risk of Rain 2 can be grabbed from the Xbox Store for Xbox One, either as individual purchases, or as a money saving bundle option.

Priced up at just £7.99, the original Risk of Rain is a roguelike platformer in which you take charge of the Commando making your way through a strange planet, taking down enemies and collecting sweet loot. By progressing through the randomly generated stages, and by discovering secret locations, you’ll start to find success in Risk of Rain, alongside the opportunity to unlock further characters. They are 12 in all in fact, and with highscores to obtain, and 10 huge levels to get lost in, whether you are going about things alone or with a friend, will always find reason to explore the world.

Risk of Rain 2 meanwhile follows up on that original action to deliver an extra dimension. Again it is all about running, gunning and taking down enemies and bosses through the random stages in place. And again, whether alone or with up to four friends, discovering the way off the planet, and to ultimate safety is the main goal. You can expect a number of free updates to hit Risk of Rain 2 in the weeks and months ahead too, with additional survivors, stages, items, enemies and even features all promised. The £24.99 asking price for Risk of Rain 2 is certainly higher than the game that kicked it all off, but the anticipation of what is to drop may certainly warrant it.

Like mentioned, if you’re interested in Risk of Rain or Risk of Rain 2, it may be worth considering the full Bundle. Priced at £29.99, this represents a decent whack of a saving over individual purchases and should be the way to go if you think these games are going to be your go-to options in the months ahead. With Gearbox Publishing behind it, you should expect something pretty special.

As always, the Xbox Store is the provider of such goodies and should be taken in immediately. Make sure you drop into the comments below to let us know what you think of this release of the Risk of Rain series too. We’d love to hear from you.
