Back in 2016 we were treated to the early stages of a slime-tastic affair, with the wonderfully cute Slime Rancher dropping in to Game Preview. One year after that, the full release arrived. Now though, as Monomi Park, Skybound Games and Slime Rancher players around the globe get ready to celebrate one year of goodness, we get news of not just a full physical boxed edition, but some rather cool DLC too.
August 2018 (that’s now!) marks one year since Slime Rancher squirmed out of Preview form and hit the world as a proper digital title. Rounding up slime was the name of the game, and for the most part it went down rather well.
Now though it’s time for Slime Rancher to move on to the next level and this September we will be seeing the arrival of a physical boxed edition. After capturing the hearts and minds of millions of players on PC and Xbox One, a super special Xbox one and PS4 boxed edition will hit North America on Sept 4th, with a European/Worldwide release occurring a few days later on the 7th. PS4 players will also see a digital download happening on August 21st.
But what is in this box? Well, every retail edition of Slime Rancher comes packed with slime-filled goodies including:
- A Slimepedia Booklet (your beginner’s guide to Slime Rancher).
- Free digital download of the game’s Original Soundtrack.
- Discount voucher for Slime Rancher merchandise.
Additionally, Xbox One and PS4 players will receive new, console-exclusive downloadable content, including new DLC Playsets which will allow them to dress up their slimes as heroic adventurers and watch them fight off a hoard of toy bop goblins (PS4) or as sea-faring pirates hunting for treasure (Xbox One). Each purchase will also receive an additional special Sapphire (PS4) or Emerald (Xbox One) Chroma Pack, which can be used to give a player’s ranch house, vacpack, and ranch tech a shiny, new paint job!
