SNK have already seen a number of their greatest franchises getting a new lease of life via the ACA NEOGEO series, but now a definitive selection of their classic titles have arrived in the form of the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection on Xbox One.
In SNK 40th Anniversary Collection, you’ll be able to play both arcade and console versions of over 25 titles. Expect to get a real blast from the past when playing titles such as Alpha Mission, Athena, Crystalis, Ikari Warriors, Ikari Warriors II: Victory Road, Ikari Warriors III: The Rescue, Guerilla War, P.O.W., Prehistoric Isle, Psycho Soldier, Street Smart, TNK III, Vanguard, Chopper I, Fantasy, Munch Mobile, SASUKE vs COMMANDER, Time Soldiers, Beast Busters, Bermuda Triangle, OZMA WARS, PADDLE MANIA, S.A.R., World Wars etc. And as an added bonus that’s exclusive for Xbox One players, the Japanese and North American versions of the acclaimed console baseball title, Baseball Stars, are included too.
Don’t worry about how gruelling these retro offerings can be as there are modern ideas implemented such as the option to save whenever you want, rewind at any point, whilst control schemes have been redesigned and graphics updated. The experience is as challenging as it needs to be as you chase your personal bests and strive for victory.
For those wanting to embrace the nostalgia, SNK 40th Anniversary Collection is available right now on Xbox One for the cost of £33.49. If you’re unsure about making a purchase, you could wait for our upcoming review to provide everything you need to know. Game Description:
2018 marked the 40th anniversary of legendary studio SNK! To celebrate this extraordinary milestone, a variety of classic arcade games from SNK’s golden age are coming back together in one anthology on Xbox One. SNK 40th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION is packed full of retro games and a treasure trove of features!
For some reason, it hit me ~ 15 mins ago to look up & see if Ikari Warriors had ever been released on an Xbox platform. I’ve owned 1 full-size arcade game in my 44 years…and, yes, this was it. It was smthg about the crazy controller & then the way the grenades were thrown—especially that RED ONE…serious power, lol.
Well, I obviously came upon this website/article. I haven’t tried 2 look it up yet 2 see if it’s available & if I can get it (preferably digitally) or not; as i’m a walking example of negative Murphy’s Law, I expect smthg 2 go wrong along the way. Or, maybe M.L. swings positive & I find not only this, but a few other “arcade” collections (already have the Midway 1 & 2 as well as the CAPCOM)…
