SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants! Who’s going to be super excited at the prospect of there being two special editions of the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated? Everyone, probably!

We last saw the big yellow sponge on console as part of Nickelodeon: Kart Racers, but SpongBob’s next outing is set to be in the remake of arguably the best game he’s been involved in, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom. In the Rehydrated version, you’ll play as SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy with the overall aim being to save Bikini Bottom from lots of Plankton’s rampant robots by using your mighty bubbles. Not only has the original game been polished and visually modernised, but there’s also a brand new horde mode multiplayer for up to two players, either online and offline.

The latest news surrounding SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is in regards to the announcement of two special editions: the Shiny Collector’s Edition and the F.U.N. Edition. Priced at £139.99, the Shiny Collector’s Edition contains the game, a 20cm SpongeBob figurine with a golden spatula and flexible tongue, six lithographs, SpongeBob SquarePants tennis socks and some wallstickers. If money is no object, then the F.U.N. Edition might be rather enticing, which includes all of the above plus an 18cm figurine of Patrick, a 20cm figurine of Sandy and a set of Tiki keyrings, for a whopping £259.99.

Both special editions will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC, when Purple Lamp Studios’ SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated launches in 2020. Which of these, if any will you be picking up? Have a watch of the trailers below then get in touch and let us know your thoughts via all of the usual means.

Been gaming casually since the SNES as a youngster but found my true passion for games on the Playstation 1 (the forbidden word ooo). My addiction grew to its pinnacle with the purchase of an Xbox 360 & Xbox Live Service. A recovering GS hunter that will still play literally any game.
