Can you remember back 17 years? If you can then you’ll no doubt have huge memories of the original Fear Effect. Well good news as the original game is back as the Square Enix Collective have announced a full-on remake – Fear Effect Reinvented.

Coming to Xbox one, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2018, Fear Effect will look for the same praise that was placed on the original title back in 2000. You’ll get the opportunity to revisit Hong Kong as you land in the dark underbelly of the city and head out on the hunt for the kidnapped daughter of a powerful Triad leader. Three mercenaries will be at your beck and call – Hana, Deke and Glas – as you explore the full-motion video world for visual delights.

French studio Sushee will be handling the game’s intriguing and enticing rebirth, along with creating a brand new chapter in the Fear Effect saga – Fear Effect Sedna – the Kickstarter funded project. It was in fact the Sedna project that pushed Sushee into creating the Reinvented title, after being wowed by the level of passion within the Fear Effect community.

“As support for Fear Effect Sedna quickly built up steam, we realised how much love Fear Effect as a franchise still had amongst gamers,” offered Benjamin Anseaume, founder of Sushee.

“At the same time, we realised that as well as offering established fans something new with Sedna, it would be great to introduce fresh players to Fear Effect by remaking that first great adventure. Fear Effect Reinvented will capture the same spirit and atmosphere as the original game, but it’ll bring it into the present with drastically improved visuals, tweaked controls and other exciting extras.

“Fear not, however. Those original fixed camera angles will remain in place, albeit playing host to some brand new high-definition visuals.”

2018 is looking set to be a great year for video games, and Fear Effect Reinvented should be another title to add to your radar.
