Stellaris to bring sci-fi grand strategy to Xbox One and PS4

-

Paradox Interactive love to push things to the final frontier and today it has been confirmed that their next attempt at moving console gaming on will come in the form of Stellaris – a sci-fi explorer that will become the first ever grand strategy game on console.

Promising deep strategy, a host of resource management opportunities and enough political intrigue to drag in all-comers, Stellaris sees Paradox team up with Tantalus Media to hit Xbox One and PS4 gamers with something they never thought was imaginable. And even better than that, if you’re attending Gamescom, you’ll find that Stellaris: Console Edition is playable this week at in Hall 9.1 A-060.

The console edition of Stellaris will bring us deep strategic gameplay, rich and diverse alien races and emergent storytelling, as it puts the complexity of the galaxy at your fingertips. Whether you’re ready to explore the unknown, wish to discover the mysteries of the universe, or prefer to conquer all in the name of your empire, Xbox One and PS4 players will find more inter-galactic strategy awaiting than ever before.

Should that all sound to your liking, then you’ll also get the chance to decide between two versions – the standard or deluxe editions. The latter will be found including the Plantoids Species Pack, Leviathans Story Pack and the Utopia Expansion when they are released, however both will include Stellaris version 1.7, with a consistent rollout of popular Stellaris DLC following soon after.

“Grand Strategy is often considered a niche genre even on the PC, but we believe that while a console audience exists, a game like Stellaris simply hasn’t made it to those platforms yet. With the help of Tantalus’ expertise, we’re happy to take that leap!” said Daniel Moregård, Game Director at Paradox Interactive. “Console players can look forward to the true Grand Strategy experience and continued DLC and support after launch with Stellaris: Console Edition.”

After first releasing in May 2016, Stellaris has gone on to sell more than 1.5 million copies the world over, but now with the Console Edition, this strategy game from the galactic conquerors at Paradox Development Studio looks to be set to push on even more. Will you be getting involved? Let us know in the comments!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
