Ever wanted to know what it is like to have a pet pelican? Well, with the videogame adaptation of Storm Boy, you’ll need to wonder no more.
Announced today for a release on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS and Android in late 2018, Storm Boy: The Game is an adaptation of the beloved Australian novella that explores the friendship between a young child and his pet pelican.
Created by Blowfish Studios, Storm Boy is based on Colin Thiele’s 1966 classic as it follows the adventures of Storm Boy and Mr Percival – his pelican companion. Taking place on the beaches of South Australia, you’ll get the chance to take in an interactive retelling of the original story that includes a variety of fun and relaxing mini-games for you to enjoy, all set against the backdrop of the beautiful South Australia coastline. Expect to find yourself sand drawing, sailing, cockle hunting, playing fetch, sand surfing, pelican feeding, and more. Or you could of course get yourself an online slots bonus instead.
You will also be able to enjoy Storm Boy by flying around the Coorong amongst flocks of other birds or alone, taking in dream-like views of the untamed lagoons and coastline.
“Storm Boy is a classic piece of literature in Australia, and we’re proud to adapt it for a new medium,” said Ellen Jurik, Senior Producer, Blowfish Studios. “We hope players of all ages will enjoy this story, whether it’s for the first time or through a new lens, and can’t wait to share it with the world when we release it for consoles, PC, and mobile devices later this year.”
We’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date on everything surrounding Storm Boy in the weeks and months ahead. If you’re planning on visiting PAX West and PAX Australia, then you should find it in playable form! For now though, a trailer will have to do…
