Rebellion, of Sniper Elite fame, are back with a new third-person shooter that should excite the Indiana Jones and Lara Croft in us all. Strange Brigade is here to take us on a journey of the supernatural, action and danger. You can bring an online friend or three, if you like too!
It is the 1930s and the merry band of four known as the Strange Brigade are in the heart of Egypt. Our friends are on a quest to bring about the end of the 4000 year old Witch Queen Seteki, who has awoken and brought an array of evil minions with her. In order to defeat Seteki, her armoured minotaurs, mummies, assassins and much more, you will have to deploy a number of unique magical powers, control many customisable weapons and lay down traps, before watching the body count rise.
In order to make the most of the devastating weapons you will find across Egypt, communication between your teammates will be key. Calling out enemies, taking them down together and keeping an eye out for clues leading to secret tombs will be your run of the mill stuff as you progress through Strange Brigade. After all, you don’t want to run into your teammate’s spike trap, do you?
When you aren’t mowing down enemies you will most likely be exploring the aforementioned tombs in search of treasures and gold to spend on new weapons and the like. But don’t expect them to come about easily. Like all good archeologists you may have to solve a couple of puzzles to get at the riches within…
Aside from the campaign mode that will likely be your first port of call, Strange Brigade will feature some extra modes for your team to try out. Horde Mode is your typical affair with waves of enemies, but puts a Black Ops Zombies twist on it by having you spend gold on temporary weapons or opening up new areas of the map to explore. Score Attack, on the other hand, focuses on your ability to kill enemies… and you’ll want to kill them quick too as points are gained through amassing a multiplier that depletes when a kill hasn’t been gained in a while.
If you are up for an exciting romp through Egypt whilst taking in a hunt for ancient beings, then Strange Brigade is available now on Xbox One for £39.99 for the Standard Edition. If you would like some added bonuses and access to the Season Pass the £64.99 Deluxe Edition is the way to go. Alternatively, Strange Brigade can also be purchased on PS4 and PC from today too.
