Styx: Shards of Darkness now free to download on Xbox One

It may be a new year and the hangovers may be seeing your head pound, but there’s one thing that is sure to lighten up your life – going dark with Styx: Shards of Darkness on Xbox One for free.

Stripped of its usual £15.74 price tag until the end of January 2020, Styx: Shards of Darkness is the latest title to benefit from the free love afforded to us Xbox games thanks to the Xbox Games With Gold scheme, and as long as you have access to a valid Xbox Gold membership, those freebies will continue to flow.

Sitting pretty alongside the other freebie for this month – Tekken 6 – Styx: Shards of Darkness on Xbox One is the second game in the Styx series, following on from the rather delightful Styx: Master of Shadows to provide new stealthy action, as you take charge of our titular hero and jump, sneak, swing and and hang your way to glory. With the previous game also having been given away for free via the Games With Gold scheme way back in 2016, long term Xbox gamers can now experience the entire franchise for nothing.

Of course, you’ll need to get that download moving fairly swiftly though and even though it may seem an age until the end of January when that £15.74 price tag will kick back into action once more, we’d urge you to head over to the Xbox Store right now and get your free download moving. You’d be crazy to miss out on the free love.

Once you have had some hands on time with Styx: Shards of Darkness for free on Xbox One come back here and let us know what you think of the game. We’d love to hear from you.

Game Description:

Styx returns in a new stealth adventure! Hired for a critical mission, explore and master huge open environments as Styx, alone or in coop with a friend. Assassinate or sneak past enemies – Humans, Elves and Dwarfs – but also much more fearsome, colossal creatures, and experiment with the new array of lethal abilities and weapons in your goblin assassin’s arsenal. Spend experience points in assassination, infiltration, magic, to learn new skills and improve abilities. Explore, recover valuable artifacts and ingredients to craft deadly traps and useful items, and create clones of yourself to deceive your enemies!
