By now we should all know the basic premise of Bomberman – after all, it’s one of the most iconic of all videogames – and Super Bomberman R really does just build on that idea. Blowing up your foes in the quickest time possible may seem ridiculously easy, but when you mix in some fast paced action, a Story Mode which caters for either the solo player or cooperative buddies, a competitive Grand Prix mode in which teamwork is vital and the usual classical affair found in Battle mode, then you’ll see what Super Bomberman R has to offer.
That said, it’s not without faults and unfortunately that solo campaign comes across as pretty uninteresting, leaving all the excitement to the multiplayer scene. However, with the move to a free download via Games With Gold, we can see Super Bomberman R thriving in the online world, with the huge influx of players filling out that ultimate Battle mode.
