Thought you knew everything about FromSoftware games and that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice would be a relatively straightforward playthrough? Think again, because the very first thing you should do is forget everything you know, and un-learn the usual behaviour. For Sekiro is a brand new experience that requires careful consideration for success to be delivered – and it’s out right now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Available right now for purchase on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the latest title to come about thanks to the wonders of FromSoftware. With Activision behind it, it’s easy to see how the combination of two heavyweights in the gaming sector ensures that anticipation is high for the arrival of Sekiro – even more so when you take into account the fact it was named ‘Best of show’ and Best Action Game’ at Gamescom 2018.

So what is it all about? Well, it’s not Dark Souls, but it does let you create a clear path to vengeance, partaking in all manner of action-adventure mechanics, as you take on the role of a disfigured ‘one-armed wolf’. Sekiro sees you attempting to protect a young lord of an ancient bloodline, although it fast becomes necessary to save both yourself and this lord from all evil. When your master is captured, your quest to regain total honor takes hold – and not even death itself will stop you. Apparently.

This entire adventure will take place across 16th century Sengoku Japan as a massive conflict threatens to take down over the world as we know it. The line between life and death is a fine one in Sekiro and this will come to the fore as you battle larger than life foes across a world that is both dark, and utterly twisted. Thankfully your one-armed wolf tag isn’t just a mythical one and by utilising an arsenal of prosthetics alongside multiple ninja abilities, will find yourself coming out on top of the bloody head-to-head combat that is central to the Sekiro goodies.

We’ll have a full review of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice on Xbox One coming your way in the days ahead, but for now should you wish to give it a little look, a digital store near you will sort you out with a download. Whether that be the Xbox Store for Xbox One where it will set you back £59.99, the PlayStation Store, or one on PC is totally up to you.

Just remember, in order to take revenge and to restore your honor, you’ll have to kill. Ingeniously.
