Target Assault Races, the Vapid Caracara and tons of discounts hit GTA Online

-

Another week and yet again the GTA Online community is gearing up for a ton of exciting events, vehicles and discounts to hit the game. Want all the details on the latest and greatest additions?

As you would expect to see, The Southern San Andreas Super Sport Series races on with a brand new mode as Target Assault Races brings both the wheelmen and gunners together as they team up in a brand new race mode, pitting speed vs precision in a fight for first place.

Target Assault Races are available to play right now in GTA Online, and these see teams of two strap themselves into a range of weaponized vehicles, with one behind the wheel, and the other situated with their finger most firmly on the trigger. The Gunner is, as you would quite probably expect, responsible for destroying targets from a mounted gun, while the Driver races to outmanoeuvre the opposition for additional points on each lap. At the end of each circuit, the Gunner and the Driver switch roles, leaving whichever team finishes with the most points to win.

You’ll find that completing laps in the top three and passing through Checkpoints ahead of your opponents will earn all-important bonus points, but alongside that, accuracy is jsut as vital. You’ll score more points for hitting smaller targets, and even more for smacking them dead centre. Scatter-shooters may feast on large green targets, but if you’re racking up bullseyes on the elusive small red target, you’ll soon eclipse them on the leaderboard.

As the Driver though, you’ll need to play to your teammate’s strengths – if you find that your Gunner is on a bit of a streak, an ease up on the throttle should let them rip through a few more targets before rushing to the next Checkpoint.

Target Assault Races come with seven unique tracks featuring an assortment of assault-minded vehicles, one of which is the brand new Vapid Caracara. With a rear mounted minigun, they don’t come much bigger or badder than the Caracara – make sure you pick it up right now from Warstock Cache & Carry before taking it for a spin in the Target Assault mode.

There is also a new Premium Race available. ‘Lift Off’ is available either from the Quick Job App on your phone, or via the yellow corona at Legion Square, letting the fastest participants earn tons of GTA$, with all players grabbing triple RP no matter where they finish in the race. With the Observatory Time Trial also in place, there is no excuse not to earn big GTA$ this week.

And once you’ve done that, you’ll want something to spend the cash on and thankfully a number of new discounts are now in place, with the Mammoth Avenger flying base of operations seeing a decent 30% discount through to April 9th. Alongside that are all of the following bargains…

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
