Tekken 7 to get two exclusive guest stars with post launch content
Tekken 7 may not have quite reached our home consoles just yet, but that doesn’t mean the guys over at Bandai Namco aren’t preparing for life post launch, and if today’s announcement is anything to go by, then it looks like we have plenty to be excited for in the months after release.
There will be at least three upcoming content additions after launch, with the first set to arrive in Summer 2017, the second in Winter 2017 and the third in Spring 2018. The specific content that will be included hasn’t yet been detailed, but we do know roughly what we should be expecting when the time comes and it’s certainly enough to get fans of the arcade fighter excited.
The first content drop due this summer is set to feature a brand-new game mode as well as 50 brand new costumes for the various fighters featuring in the game. Whilst there is currently no news on just what this new mode will entail, the fact it’s due to arrive this summer after the game releases on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on June 2nd means we won’t be waiting long to find out.
Both the second and third content drops set for Winter 2017 and Spring 2018 are each set to feature one new exclusive playable character to join the roster, with the new fighters set to be well known characters from other videogame licenses. Both new fighters will also come with their own special stage and costumes.
Anyone looking to get in on the full Tekken 7 experience including the three post launch content drops would do well to pick up the Tekken 7 Season Pass which will grant full access to each piece of DLC, as well as a further 35 exclusive metallic costumes for their fighters. Those not wanting to spend the extra figure all in one go for the Season Pass will be able to buy each DLC pack individually upon release from the Xbox Games Store.
But that’s not all as during the year, players will also be able to enjoy free character panels from which to customise their favourite characters, and therefore changing the appearance of that fighter on the various in-game loading screens. Thanks to a partnership with various worldwide artists, each player will have their own way to defy both friends and rivals within the game, and although no more info is available on that right now, it certainly seems like Tekken 7 will be full of suprises.
So, there we have it, the promise of new content, exclusive characters and a variety of things to change up your look to keep things fresh in the arena. In Tekken 7 all fights are personal and those looking to get in on the action will be able to do so when the game launches on June 2nd 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
Those that pre-order will get access to the famed vampire character Eliza, well known from Tekken Revolution, and anyone willing to shed some extra cash to pick up the Collector’s Edition will find themselves the proud owner of the Tekken 7 Deluxe Edition which includes the Season Pass as well as statue of the fan favourite Kazuya performing a mid-air fly kick on Heihachi as well as Steelbook and a copy of the official Tekken 7 soundtrack.
